When even the blanks become too easy, take every word down to its ends, its consonants, or its vowels: b-------g, then b-g-nn-ng, then -e-i--i--. The line never changes length. A word you half-remember is still the right shape on the page.

When the sentence starts carrying you along by rhythm alone, reverse it. The words run backwards and the recitation you had stops working, because you are reading again instead of remembering.
