Short Version
Pure Bible Search collects nothing, sends nothing, and contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. There is no account to create and no third-party service behind it. This policy is short because there is very little to describe.
What We Collect
Nothing. Not your searches, not what you read, not how long you use the app, not your device identifier, not your location, not a crash report, not an anonymous or aggregated statistic. There is no server to collect it to.
Advertising, Analytics and Tracking
The app contains no advertising and shows no ads. It contains no analytics or measurement software of any kind. It does not track you across apps or websites, does not build a profile of you, and does not share, sell or rent information about you to anyone, because it holds none and gathers none. No advertising identifier is read. No third-party software development kit that collects data is included.
No Network Access
The app has no networking code. The King James text, its index and Noah Webster's 1828 dictionary are all bundled inside the app, so every search and every page runs entirely on your device and the app works normally with the phone in airplane mode.
On Android this is enforced by the operating system rather than promised: the released app does not request the INTERNET permission, so it cannot open a network connection even if it tried.
What Stays on Your Device
The app saves a few things so that it works the way you left it. All of it is written to the app's own private storage on your device, is readable only by this app, and is never transmitted:
- Searches you choose to save, and the folders you file them in
- Your recent searches
- Where you stopped reading
- Your settings, including the theme colour
Deleting the app removes all of it. If you have turned on iCloud Backup or Android Backup, your device's operating system may include this app's data in your own backup — that is a function of your device and your account, governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policy, not by anything this app does.
Files You Open and Share
You can open a saved search file (.kjs) that someone has sent you, and you can share one you have made. This happens only when you ask for it. Opening a file reads it on your device; sharing one hands it to whichever app you pick, using your device's standard share sheet. Where it goes after that is determined by the app you chose, not by this one.
Links Out of the App
The About screen credits Donna Whisnant and Brandon Peterson, whose work this app is built on, with links to their websites. Tapping one leaves the app and opens your browser. Those sites are not ours and have their own privacy policies.
Permissions the App Declares but Does Not Use
On iOS the app carries the standard descriptions for photo library, camera and location access. It uses none of the three. They are present only because the file-opening component the app uses can also offer photos and camera capture in other apps, and Apple requires a description for every capability an app's code references, whether or not it is used. The app will never ask you for those permissions.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a new use of your information.
